How Dayna Got Her Wooby Back
|
Of course, everything I post -must- be a story, so here's mine...
The first time I heard mention of Emerald Rose, it was by my friend Mike, who was absolutely nuts about 'Never Under-Esimate A Woman With The Goddess In Her Eyes'. Of course, he'd never actually have the CD on him when he would rave, so I actually didn't get to hear the CD until I got exposed to it by other pagan friends. Assured that the band was even better live, I eagerly awaited an opportunity to hear them, which actually turned out to be DragonCon 2001. Alas, I was cruelly denied. I missed their performance by a few minutes, and utterly crushed, I stood in the concourse with the disappointed air of a child denied her favorite wooby. "What's wrong?" I hear a voice ask in concern, and lo, there sat Arthur, who looked like a man who clearly understood what it must be like to loose a wooby. I explained to them that I'd missed their show, had heard their CD and wanted nothing more then to hear them, and he told me how sorry he was that I'd missed it (And amazingly, sounded like he meant it. Sincerity in a performer to someone who appreciates their performance is a real treasure, and something a lot of musicians tend to forget.) I purchased 'Bending Tradition', which Arthur signed, and then apologized again to me because the other band members weren't there to sign it too! This was definitely better then some dumb old wooby, lemme tell ya! The whole scenario left me with such a good feeling I was bound and determined to make their next live performance I could get to...which ended up being Samhain, 2001. I've been crazy for the band ever since. |

I first saw Art shuffling off to Buffalo
|
I believe he was standing on a table at the time. I wanted to see if he was still as... "touched" as he was those twenty-four years ago. He is. Really like the bands music and their style. Hope they go far. Maybe even to Buffalo.

I'm from Brazil, and, as my husband likes to say: "a very active pagan"
I was bewitched And I have to say it: my 2 month old daughter likes Merry Man Folk... when she listens it, she starts "dancing" and smiling ok, I know... no plans for ER on Brazil, right... sigh |

No, no plans for Brazil at the moment that I know of for the guys but someday...
You're welcome to come hang out here at the board any time you'd like and perhaps we can talk them into doing some sort of webcast... PS: My son loves them too. |

story/review from a new fan
|
Saw ER for the first time at Sci-Fi Summer Con this past weekend here in Atlanta. They did a show Friday night and one Saturday afternoon, each was very entertaining. As was Cayce dancing while doing her techie tweaking. One could say she was dressed for warm weather.
Two long-maned male fans in the front row did a cranium-thrashing spectacle during appropriately fast pieces. Other people danced in the aisles, clapped, sang along... really good vibes all round. And me, I got a little jam time in with The Mad Whistler on Sunday. Rick p.s. running through my head still is "chicken raid... chicken raid of Cymru..." |

I was listening to the Circle of Souls radio, and heard Freya, Shakti. I had to ask around first to see who the band was, because I had been using my playlist. When I heard "Emerald Rose" I searched for the site, found the mp3.com page through the main page, and was hooked for life. I made everyone I know listen to the Freya, Shakti mp3, and got all of my friends hooked, too.

A friend kept raving about them, checked them out at mp3.com, ordered Bending Tradition from Amazon and cross the mountain to The Crimson Moon to hear them play whenever I can!

how I found ER | ||
|
I found ER through a couple that went on the 2006 Ireland Tour with them. They couldn't wait to share all of the music with us, and even took us to see them at The Crimson Moon. It was a wonderful experience to sit right in the front and feel surrounded by the energy of the music.

Re: how I found ER | ||

I was persuaded to go on a tour of Ireland with an assorted coachload of the wierd and the remarkable... Somewhere along the way I discovered that they were, in fact some sort of rock band, but only after having spent a day or so in the back being quietly assured that 'The Man' was out to get us all (This came as a great surprise to me at least, since as far as I was aware, 'The Man' was Shaft). Along our whistlestop tour of Ireland I found out that about three-quarters of the bus were Roleplayers, nine-tenths were miscellaneous pagans and one (the most excellent Ned) was in fact from another planet. Things only looked up from there, and a couple of days in I actually got to hear some of the bands music for the first time, which was nice - when I could tear my eyes away from trying to follow the wrist action of the misplaced English Teacher in the front of the group who was playing the drum vigorously enough to supply power to several small villages. What can I say, but that it was a wonderful bonus to the trip to find out that the band weren't only pretty good guys, but could also actually play into the bargain. ^_^ Incidentally - for those other folks who were on the tour this year, is there somewhere pictures taken on it are being posted or otherwise made available? /I/ remember things clearly enough but I'm being pestered by people who didn't go over my steadfastly luddite refusal to get a decent camera (or indeed, since I retired my old 35mm kodak box /any/ camera ^_^ ). |
